sorry, no idea where else to put this.. if there is any better place to put this tell me. thanks!
been struggling with ARFID (avoidant/restricive food intake disorder) my whole life.
everyone seems shocked when i don't like things like pizza, spaghetti, meat, ect.
but the texture is just so gross and i hate it so much i can't stand foods with gross textures
i hate all fruits, vegetables, and meats and i have never managed to eat them
i've tried, but it either results in
A. me puking
B. me gagging
i also have sensory issues which makes it so much worse to deal with
i really am struggling with having this disorder and im starting to feel like the only one who has it
would love advice on how to cope with it, thanks
i have ADHD, anxiety, ARFID, autism, depression, OCD, PPD
and thats it

autisticglitch,

I had not read about ARFID until I saw it in your signature and googled it out. So thanks, because it seems to be what I was searching for. Then I found this post of yours from last year...

Its about my current partner. She suffers from BPD, lots of anxiety, and I can understand how that may decrease her appetite, but she also has too many food restrictions, since childhood. It is not something so severe as you describe, because she does eat pizza, spaghetti and meat. But whatever she eats needs to be freshly prepared, with a good smell, texture and appearance. She rejects some fruits and most vegetables.

She starves into dizziness and then eats very artificial and industrialized food. As a result she suffers from malnutrition. And I'm especially worried now because she is breastfeeding our baby. Some days she just doesn't eat any food, so I give her a "dietary supplement" that mixes with milk, and still I have to persuade her into taking it.

I'm curious to know what did you mean with "sensory issues". She has trouble identifying the source of her pain sometimes. She can't determine the exact location in her body were the pain comes from. But I think she has improved from that now. A few days ago she identified a headache and what specific part of her head was hurting.

So how do you cope with it? Do you have low appetite too?
male, non, INTP; "No pain, no gain."; Please reply and excuse me when I'm insensible.
