Cross addicted?

Postby ElizabethinTx1967 » Sun Jan 25, 2015 11:24 am

Im a binge eater overeater who is also sex and love addict codependant. Im just wondering if there are any other binge eaters whom are sex or love addicts or codependants? If not are there any whom are cross addicted with other addictions?

I weigh over *mod edit* Im huge but had lost *mod edit* from my 12 step program, my Mom died and I put some of it back on am now back on track. But when I first got into my 12 step program for sex addicts I though everyone would be grossed out by my weight issues. But as I went along found a few other overeaters and also came to realize that there are many electronic sex addicts in my program. I never had problems with face to face sex or having a bunch of sex partners face to face, at my weight its impossible.

Most of my addictions was electronic, virtual fantasy game porn, internet porn, phone sex sexting and skyping so.

Hey...im real sorry to hear about your mom. Sounds like you have an addiction problem that expanded into various areas of your life...i think seeing a psych may be helpful and you could learn how to kick the addictions...what do you think?

Hey there. It sounds like you are working hard to get and stay healthy, and that's great.

I don't know if binge eating and sex addiction correlate at all, but I suspect they could. I've heard that some people are just more susceptible to addiction than others, but of course, I'm no professional. Perhaps someone else can offer some insight into that.

Im-pure is correct; we do have a sexual addiction forum if you'd like to try it. Also, yes, please refrain from posting numbers as it does trigger other members who suffer from eating disorders. (Thank you, Im-pure, for pointing those two things out.)

Hello -

I can't relate specifically to your situation. I have struggled with binge eating for as long as I can remember. It worsened by my efforts to quit smoking. I officially quit smoking about 3 years ago. I think because I already struggled with another addiction...binge eating that it only complicated matters. I've been using nicotine lozenges since I quit and haven't yet been able to give them up. I wanted to wait until I got my eating somewhat 'normalized' before taking the leap. They seem to be connected in a way. When I would smoke my binge eating wouldn't be so bad, but when I stopped it occurred more frequently. The nicotine in my mind helps silence the binge eating urges. I congratulate you for taking on both issues simultaneously. Dealing with one addiction alone is tough!
