Postby angel23 » Thu Jun 22, 2006 12:49 pm

Hi

Can anyone help me at all, I used to starve myself to stay thin but i dont want to keep starving. I want to start eating healthy so im now having three meals a day plus exercising. Will i put on weight if I continue eating 3 meals a day. I want to lose a few pounds. Does calorie counting work. How would i know how many calories Im aloud have.

the average for women is 2000 cals a day, although if your body is used to starving it might hang on to those cals like mad.

i would suggest you see a dietician and be honest about your past and present eating habits. they can advise you accordingly and that way you have more control if you loose or put on weight.

basically, if you eat healthily, you should be ok and shouldnt put on boat loads of weight. (unless you're really underweight in which case your body will normalise to its healthy weight range.)

try eating a healthy brekkie and maybe a piece of fruit during the day and a salad for lunch and some steamed veggies with grilled chicken for dinner. try get good grains into you too to keep you regular and cleaned out.

above all- dont stress, get lots of sleep and drink loads of h20 every day!

...but be warned: Water adds what I like to call 'pseudo-weight' to your body. So, if you are drinking a lot of water and get onto the weighing-scales do not be disppointed if you feel healthier but weigh the same / more (The extra weight is the water).

Eating three meals per day will give you a better chance of losing weight than starving. You need food to burn energy but if you starve, your body-metabolism changes to 'Shutdown' mode. In that mode depression lurks and excessive storage of fat will occur.
