HELP!!

Postby smerff402 » Tue Jun 06, 2006 10:00 pm

I have always had eating disorders, before it was anorexia and Bulima, but lately I have been eating uncontrolably. It feels like everything is moving so fast and the only way to calm myself down is to eat. I have gained tons of weight which makes me feel horrible about myself. I still throw up what I eat sometimes, but I eat so much that even that does nothing. WHy can't I stop eating?

hmmm i wouldnt like to say that my reason is 100% correct but i can tell u wat i have experienced throughout my years....
whenever i go long periods of not eating something 'bad' and eating basic healthy 'diet' food, i can go for a while but then my blood sugar level drops (coz im not eating anything) and i feel larthargic with no energy.. then i find myself pigging out on wateva i can find!
not only is it because of my low energy levels, but because u r denying yourself of 'nice' foods as a result of hardly eating anything. i find it EXTREMELY rare to find a person who deep down truly does not like food such as chocolate cake etc, so when u cut them out complelety after a while u get sick of not eating them and u want it so bad u pig out...
my advice to you is in your everyday diet, include some 'nice' 'sweet' foods, but the keyword is in MODERATION- a healthy meal followed by 1 or even 2 biscuits, but thats it u kno.. or a healthy meal folowed by 1 small slice of cake..
its not this little moderation of food here n there thats gonna put weight on, its when u pig out, like u r now..
so my advice would be to just have nice sweet foods in moderation, then you wont have such low energy level and craving for this foods coz u cant expect to go perfect eating 100% of the time can u?!! :D

True, the longer you attempt to abstain from food the more likely you are to later binge. Also, food has a direct link to depression. In this sense some bulimics are seen to go through phases of relative happiness to sadness. So, you must begin to try eating your meals closer together. They don't have to be large at this delicate stage - They can be small such as a few mandarins / kiwis or an apple. Please try to get a consistent, and workable diet going though.

I know that you are stressed and it is a terrible state to be in. You can adapt to it though, or, perhaps the stress will eventually lift depending on what exactly is causing it (Do you know?). You will also find that the binging eventually subsides, but usually in place of some other eating disorder. Whatever happens it is fundamental for you to know that the way you are living now - The pain that you are suffering - Will not last forever.

The brain constantly changes irrespective of age: It grows and 'shrinks' in different areas and when you do something painful (And yet unnecessary) for so long the brain will switch to forming new nerve-pathways, and hence, new actions.
