Anxiolytics

Postby swift. » Mon Nov 28, 2011 11:05 pm

Has anyone here taken any? What was your personal experience with them?

Personally Ive always kind of had a stubborn opposition to any sort of medication, but Im thinking about making an appointment with a psychiatrist. Ive always been a bit more on edge than other people, and not just with social anxiety, but also in general. Some people are just naturally calm, they don't over think, they never shake, they can fall asleep in ten minutes; and Im the exact opposite. Sometimes Ill get random shaking spells that have nothing to do with anxiety. Ive tried valerian root, and that's helped a decent amount, but I think I need something a bit stronger.

I have tried anxiolytics. If you have physical symptoms of anxiety, trembling, shaking, feeling faint, racing heartbeat Beta blockers are very good.
SSRIs can be good too if you can find one that suits you. I tried Prozac it did not suit me at all it gave me severe diarrhea.
I then tried Paroxetine which suits me fine.
I suppose it depends how bad you feel, on how much your problems interferes with your daily life.
