I bought some new glasses like over a month ago and am still too frightened to where them to work, because I hate when people comment on something different about me.

Same here. I think it's because I was teased and bullied a lot as a child because of the way I looked and dressed. I also understand what you mean about not wanting to wear your new glasses. I refused to wear glasses for years after I first needed them in junior high school.

I've been experimenting with brighter colors and whatnot. It's uncomfortable trying to change things up after trying so hard to just blend in for so long.

It's amusing to me that in high school, I was friends with the people who wore long black jackets and dyed their hair in rainbow colors, but I was too scared to experiment with my own appearance.

I have no idea. Because of my style I have been coined Wolverine, Elvis. Those have passed but still, at odd times, grip the attention.

Now, I sport a Victorian style Mad Hatter. With a red feather for that fleeting acknowledgment of extraordinary.
Right or wrong. Wrong or right. Who's to say what's right is not wrong and wrong right?

I dress as boring/plain/frumpy as possible, so people are less likely to pay attention to me. I never wear make up, dress up or do my hair.

In my teenage years and in the first part of my 20s, I used to wear large clothes, mainly black, gray or other neutral tones, as if I wanted people not to see me.
This started to change when I was like 25-26. I started to wear other colors (red, green...). Now I almost never wear black. I don't feel comfortable anymore. I have a black dress that I love and I am not comfortable if I don't wear it with a red purse or shoes or smth like that. My skirts are shorter now than when I was a teenager.

G'Day a-d,

I like how you have given personality to avoidance.
A statement of pride in yourself almost growing in colour and as a person.
Beautiful, thanks for sharing.

I like to keep up with the current fashions as it were, but still blend in. I don't wear any bright colours at all, mainly navy, brown, black, grey - exciting! I do have naturally bright red hair though so thats been my statement. Also I have a load of piercings, but none on my face (but also none in weird places  ) so I look generic on the outside but I guess there's an individual underneath there somewhere!

Welcome to the forums! So, you're a bit of a dandy then? I'm liking it. xD Have you always been able to separate your style from your AvPD?

lol All my clothes are in those same colours and my hair is red but fakely so, strangely enough, red is also the only bright colour I will wear. (probably because it is a strong colour and thus I don't feel so vulnerable when I wear it) Your piercings are in your ears only? I used to have a monroe but took it out last year. Now I have a small (and seemingly permanent) hole in my face. I try to convince myself that people mistake it for a beauty mark. lmao

All thoughts are prey to some beast
