Same here. I think it's because I was teased and bullied a lot as a child because of the way I looked and dressed. I also understand what you mean about not wanting to wear your new glasses. I refused to wear glasses for years after I first needed them in junior high school.
I've been experimenting with brighter colors and whatnot. It's uncomfortable trying to change things up after trying so hard to just blend in for so long.

It's amusing to me that in high school, I was friends with the people who wore long black jackets and dyed their hair in rainbow colors, but I was too scared to experiment with my own appearance.
