Then again, that might just be a short reprieve in my depression, and that's what normal is like, I've just had it for such a short amount of my life I don't recognize it.
Regular talk therapy did wonders for me. That I definitely recommend for anyone with AvPD.

Alot of therapists incorporate it into the talk therapy (supportive psychotherapy) that they do, so you may not even be realizing that you are receiving a dynamic type of CBT.
So for example, with a client who has AvPD, the therapist may provide encouragement (supportive psychotherapy) when just chatting about how things are in your life, your issues etc. But also when you say things like "I am a failure" or "nobody would want me", they may get you to challenge those thoughts by getting you to look at the good things you have got going for you, and that you're not a complete failure. This is the cognitive part of CBT- i.e they challenge your thoughts/cognitions. The behavior component of CBT is when they suggest to you to try a task that might challenge your behaviours- i.e situations that you avoid, for example going out and saying hello to a stranger.
