Ok, I understand. It has to exist a confident relation between someone and his/her therapist. It´s pretty difficult to trust someone completely.

What kind of extremely personal questions? Like did you want to kill your father and sleep with your mother?

This is without any doubt, an extremely personal question but there are many other questions that are not extreme for people out, but extremely difficult to faced by the person (patient). Many avoidants and other people with different phychological problems handicaps is, indeed, being capable of facing to their own.
I´m not saying that would be impossible, but difficult.

There really are a lot of 17 year olds who feel the way you do, I'm not saying everyone, but it's certainly more common than the actual incidence of AvPD in the population.

So being a loner who avoids social interaction, has crap social skills and little ability to relate common?

Here are the official diagnostic criteria:

A pervasive pattern of social inhibition, feelings of inadequacy, and hypersensitivity to negative evaluation, beginning by early adulthood and present in a variety of contexts, as indicated by four (or more) of the following:

(1) avoids occupational activities that involve significant interpersonal contact, because of fears of criticism, disapproval, or rejection

(2) is unwilling to get involved with people unless certain of being liked

(3) shows restraint within intimate relationships because of the fear of being shamed or ridiculed

(4) is preoccupied with being criticized or rejected in social situations

(5) is inhibited in new interpersonal situations because of feelings of inadequacy

(6) views self as socially inept, personally unappealing, or inferior to others

Here is the list of symtoms from wiki:

Hypersensitivity to criticism or rejection
Self-imposed social isolation
Extreme shyness or social anxiety in social situations, though feels a strong desire for close relationships
Avoids physical contact because it has been associated with an unpleasant or painful stimulus
Avoids interpersonal relationships
Feelings of inadequacy
Severe low self-esteem
Self-loathing
Mistrust of others
Emotional distancing related to intimacy
Highly self-conscious
Self-critical about their problems relating to others
Problems in occupational functioning
Lonely self-perception
Feeling inferior to others
In some more extreme cases-- Agoraphobia
Utilizes fantasy as a form of escapism and to interrupt painful thoughts

So I guess fantasizing isn't absolutely needed for an avpd diagnosis. If you have most of the rest of these you may be avoidant.
