Hey, honey! Don´t pour salt in the wound. I DO know I made a mistake. Vitamin C has nothing to do with the sun. I already put this in my signature as an apponishment
All I know is that my shrink usually says that I have to sunbathe. Why? Because, it can help you with your mood state? I´m not sure.
So, your speciality is vitamins. Ok, it´s really interesting.
Chucky, do you know if there is any food that is proven to be affective with depression states. It´s said that we are what we eat. :?:

For food I would say fish - for the fatty acids. Fruit and vegetables also. Foods high in sugar can casue depression. It becomes a viscious cycle because when you get depressed you often crave sugar. I know I do. There was a famous case in the US where a guy killed the mayor of San Fransisco and he blamed his bad diet for causing a psychotic depression. They called it the Twinkie defense. His lawyer persuaded the jury that White's capacity for rational thought had been diminished; the jurors found the guy incapable of the premeditation required for a murder conviction, and instead convicted him of voluntary manslaughter.

There are lots of suppements. High serum concentrations of homocysteine may be associated with depression in middle-aged men and high doses of B vitamins are supposed to lower homocysteine. Omega 3 fish oils are supposed to be a great mood stabilizer - some people treat bipolar with fish oil. 5-HTP converts into serotonin while SAM-e can raise levels of several brain chemicals including norepinephrine, dopamine and others so they may help with depression. Some may be very deficient in serotonin and benefit from 5-HTP, while others may benefit from SAM-e. St. John's wort is an herb used for depression. Acetyl-l-carnitine is said to lift mood and enhance mental activity. I take many of those but I find that a good hooker is a much better antidepressant.

That was Dan White, the guy who killed gay activist/politician Harvey Milk. At the end of the movie Milk that's how they explained it, but in reality it wasn't actually that the junk food caused him to commit the murder. The defense they used was that he was depressed, which they could prove by pointing out his slobbish appearance, when he was normally clean-cut, and the fact that he had started eating a lot of junk food when he had previously been a health nut.

I know - White was an unstable guy. But a bad diet and lack of exercise DOES contribute to depression. I have noticed this personally. If people in this country would eat better and work out a bit they wouldn't be hogging so many pills.

Thanks, honey. I´m checking all this information. Specially, Acetyl-l-carnitine. I´m really interested in it.
I know Saint John´s herb (we called it here hierba de San Juan).
And for this guy "White´s case" I can´t believe that could happened. I believe you but it´s really mad. The case of twinkis murders.

Did you see the movie - Milk? It was interesting, but I wish it had gotten more into the Dan White story. I don't know if it's politically correct, but I feel bad for guys like that. He killed himself shortly after getting out of prison.

Thanks Hanna! It´s difficult to claim but I don´t believe in casuality, it´s curious that this guy chose an homosexual as his victim. As I said before, I don´t believe in casualities.

@Parador, L carnitine is sold here to lose weight. I´m checking in the net and I´m getting trouble to find out the difference between Acetyl L carnitine and L carnitine. Are they the same stuff? Thanks in advance.
I don´t want to have this ups and downs modes anymore, honey. And I´ll do whatever.
In my city, there´s a Middle Age market every year, in February. And I remember that last year I bought a perfume made by plants that were suppose to help with depressions. Nothing to do with reality but it smells well.
It´s funny how desperate people can do whatever to sane.
