My idiot meth addict roommate keeps piling on the #######4

My roommate continues to get on me for petty $#%^, in spite of the fact that I pay 50% of the rent in a 3 person apartment, and spend 99% of my time in my room (giving him 3/4 of the apartment 99% of the time).

This time, he keeps getting on me for leaving a lamp on for the occasional 15-30 minute trips I take to the grocery store, even though I pay half the electric bills and I know that leaving a lamp on for 15-30 minutes doesn't compare to the shitload of electricity him and his girlfriend use while playing on their two desktop computers and their big screen (like 70 inch) plasma television. I'll bet my ass a much greater chunk of the electric bill, which I pay 50% of, is coming from them with those giant watt sucking appliances they use.

I've reached the end of my rope, he really doesn't know how good he has it and i'm freaking done playing punching bag to this idiot. When I pay the rent for this month i'm only going to pay 1/3 this time and leave a note telling him that if he wants 1/2 the rent he can go find another roommate to sucker into paying 50% of the rent in a 3 person apartment, and who'll be a subservient little peon to his every little gripe at the same time. I'll probably put it in more civilized words, but that's about what it'll surmount to. This guy is on one undeserved power trip after another, and apparantly someone who is socially avoidant makes for easy pickings.

Plasmas do use tons of electricity. Did you tell him that? I had a bad roomate once. I stayed a month before I found a motel room to check into near where I woked. It was just one little tiny room, but it was a lot better.

And it does seem that you should only be paying 1/3 the rent.

Well I told him in person that i'd be only paying $180 a month now on. (I was actually paying 45% of the rent not 50% of the rent, but still that's $60 more than if I had been paying 33% of the rent). So 8 months of paying $60 more than what I should be paying.

He literally told me Where do I get my balls. ######6 believable. Apparantly when you've been shitting all over someone while they pay a high proportion of the bills than what's fair, you expect them to stay in their place. He's like "Do you think you can find another place to stay where you'll pay the same amount?" What an idiot, i'll just go on roommates.com and find somebody else. He thinks he's doing me a ######6 favor charging me 45% rent in a 3 person apartment. He is a true scumbag and he apparantly thinks he can find another sucker to pay 45% rent in a 3 person apartment and who he can be a rude prick to at the same time.

I really think it's worth it to pay more for a place that's all yours. I was only paying $300 a month with my bad roommate. I moved to a tiny motel room and paid $600 a month for it. But I was much happier. I read your other roomate rant. It sounds like you need a change.

Nah, there are good roommates out there, just not this guy. My roommate I had before this guy was absolutely the best, and I wish I could still be his roommate but he decided to move in with his girlfriend.

I pay ~200-300 extra for rent to live alone. I don't want to put up with #######4.

He said I can't 'stay if I won't pay "My fair share" of the rent.

Ummmm 45% is a "fair share"??? WTF is this guy smoking (crystal meth? Oh wait, nm I already knew that)

And btw I knew I was overpaying for a while, but it's his consistent disrespectful behavior (going into my room while i'm gone) and nitpicking on petty $#%^ (like he's my ######6 parent) that sent me overboard. He's a mall cop so maybe that's why he acts like a wannabe authority figure constantly. The one time I brought up the fact that i'm former military (and I only brought it up because he asked what I did before moving to Oshkosh) he got real defensive like, like a blow was just taken to his ego, and he said something like "Oh wow, i'll bet you eat people for dinner" in a real sarcastic manner.


Anyways, I figured this idiot would react this way (completely appalled that i'd dare ask to pay 1/3 of the rent in a 3 person apartment), so I already had put up a posting on craigslist, I will find roommates who will be more than happy to pay evenly divided rent, and who'll not act like they are some sort of super tough guy/authority figure to boot.

Speaking of which, I can hear them getting it on in the other room, excuse me while I vomit.

Yep thats what most people do. Once they figure out you won't stand up to them they'll try to get away with as much as they can. Then when you finally do start standing up for yourself they'll play the victim. Don't let them do it! Just because we want people to like us doesn't mean we should let them treat us like crap. Trust me I know because I let my ex walk all over me. It just takes practice but eventually you'll feel a lot better about yourself.

Haha, I think I might just do that. Get him one signed by the cast and crew off of Ebay.

I used to do the exact type of work he probably does (albeit with an M16 and in a hot as ###$ Middle East country that rhymes with IPack), so I really am not disrespecting his profession, but he needs to not treat me like i'm a suspicious looking black dude with an Ipod hidden up my coat.

BTW i've already got 4 people interested in becoming roommates and i've only had the ad up for like 2 days. Doesn't look like there will be any problem whatsoever transitioning to a new apartment room (in the same apartment complex that is).
