Why would people be scared to talk? I thought the whole concept of the forum was to alleviate fear so people could talk openly.

Yes, but it's hard to do that when people aren't willing to take the first step.

You have a valid point there. Are the moderators creating new threads and posting a lot to the existing ones?

So far, the only person consistently creating new threads is Asuka (surprise, surprise  ). I made one, but it got sparse responses.

Well, that's not too encouraging seeing as the whole point of any forum is to communicate. Hopefully the other mods will come out of their shells and start posting more.

I finally have time to read the debate. I've been very busy on the road. It is the way I cope. It means I can go long periods when I don't have time for this. In addition to a full time job I went to Boston Thursday - Hartford Friday - Ottawa Saturday - Glens Falls Sunday - Montreal Monday. Concerts and opera. The best was the Verdi Requiem in Hartford. Totally awesome. That's not even a record for me. I did 8 concerts in 7 days two summers ago.
Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast.

I´m still here. But, yes, I think many Avoidants are no here. Don´t worry. People choose to do what they want, it´s someone one have to accept.
I have made different threads but for any reason many people are not identify with. What can I do? NOTHING! :P

um, after reading this forum for 2 years, I don't think I've ever seen a "troll" here...

I believe that creating an "invite only" forum for people with AVPD is very unfortunate... people with AVPD are the very people who don't feel comfortable negotiating for admittance to a private club. The ideal AVPD forum would be open to everyone interested, & would not require registering to post (allows anonymous posting).

You invited me but you don´t mention was a private place for avoidants. If I remember well.

When I mentioned trolls I meant when an avoidant wishes to post in other forums on here, such as the just for fun forum and living with mental illness ect. I got trolled to death on those recently.
We held a discussion in AvPD Net and the vast majority prefer it to be invite only.We had a couple of trouble makers which we had to ban even via the invite system.

The reason the website is privite is because it's for avoidants who,as you said, are private people. All avoidants are more than welcome all the have to do is PM me here and I'll send them an invite.

In my opinio is the best, I don´t like private places but I think that people with the same problem or illness like you, are more probably understand you better and even change opnios and help each other. Anyway, I´m not in this private place. I only post just post in Phychoforums (mainly in Just for fun but I feel well in AvdPD because I´m an avoidant).
