What drives a person to hurt themselves? This thought just struck a chord in my brain. I mean, what sense does it makes? While saying this, I'm guilty of such 'non' sensity too because I'm bulimic and vomit my food back up - what on Earth is the point in that!?

Back to cutting - seriously - why do we do it, do you think?

Are you sure that's it? I used to self-harm but I only did it because I heard that it's what other people did who were depressed - i.e. I had no particular reason for doing it other than 'fitting in'.

I think one thing that really drives me away from cutting is I had to put up with it out of my ex. I found it was the silliest thing ever. You cut yourself to release the pain on the inside? Not logical! His thighs used to be REALLY f'ed up!

A real life Shinji wrote:Well, for me it was anyway. I was'nt trying to be Goth or Emo.I just felt awful and wanted a release.I'm surprised you would that just to fit in to be honest Kevin. You seem a very independant minded person.

I wasn't always independent, but I have become so over the past few years. If you compare me now to who I was, say, 4 years ago, you'd see that I'm an entirely different person now. I have 'reformulated' myself. I used to be sheep - I admit - following everything that people did. I was just trying desperatly to fit in though, and this was before I ever heard of Asperger's.
