Most child-abuse is actually done my non-pedophiles and yes, there are pedophiles that are against child pornographie.
I read a very intersting interview with a pedophilic man some years ago. I don't think their main problem is they can never have sex. They can never have a partner and they are hated by society.
In Germany there is an organization that wants to help pedophiles who don't want to become offenders and this rendered a horrible media compaign. These guys are seeking help and some of them even underwent castration or take meds to reduce the sex drive and they will be prevented from a normal life forever. But people just see them as offenders. It would be so much easier for them if they could at least be open about it. I can even imagine that social support reduces the likelihood that they will offend.
And I'm wondering if animated porn would be a solution for those people. It doesn't hurt anyone, but it could increase the drive maybe.

I just hate if people are hated for something they didn't choose. It is just bad luck having this orientation. The only reason why most people don't have it is they were lucky, it doesn't mean they are better people.

Excellent point, well made. Generally it doesn't prevent people feeling they are better anyway though. Maybe this is some natural coping mechanism for "normal" people.

I've known quite a few rich (or at least well-off) people that do feel better that other, poorer people (even without the moral superiority argument you cite). After all, there must be a reason they're richer, right?

Realistic sex robots would be an even better solution. I still wonder if anyone would allow them. I also wonder if it might increase the urge to be with a real child.

Animated child pornography is just as illegal as the real thing in the U.S.- Just so you know

The same is true in this country, but only since recent years. The argument seems to be exactly that it might encourage actual child abuse.

I'm not entirely sure if that is true, but I suspect that wasn't even any debate on it. Of course, if you're a politician it's an easy way to gain popularity if you ban things that are against public sentiment without ever discussing it. This seems to be an ongoing trend. Liberal Dutch laws, my ass.

That's ###$ up, but you have to draw a line somewhere I guess. Even if it's legal to have animated child porn, I doubt the social ramifications would be any different than possessing the real thing. Something irreversible happens when fantasies like that move from the mind's eye to the human eye.

I would never commit suicide. Life is crap but think what you leave behind. I also feel that it is unfair to die when there are so many people in hospital fighting for their lives. They would swap places with you in the morning. I think that you must believe that something better is around the corner. We will all be dead long enough.

That was 2002, another (more specific) law was passed in 2003 and upheld by the supreme court in 2008.
