new hair (new appearances+avpd)

Postby heelshouse » Mon Oct 06, 2008 12:27 pm

over the weekend (for several reasons) I had to cut all of my hair off. Im a girl and I always had mid back length hair but now it is like 3 inches long.

I am in college and although I saw a few people since my haircut, I have not seen that many. And at first I didnt mind the attention that I got from my new hair...but today is monday, and monday=classes. And because of my AVPD i dont think I can handle all of that attention.

I kinda just want to hide.

Has anyone else ever made a drastic appearance decision and then felt overwhelmed by the attention it caused?

I have always hated getting haircuts (even though I have always gotten them at the same place, save a few times where I went somewhere else, which I didn't enjoy too much >.> Asking me how I want my hair... I don't know, you are the one with the hair degree >.<) But every time I would get my haircut and if it would be a little different I'd get people bugging me about it, I hated it.

I used to be very much like this when I was younger. Its a self conscious thing. I pretty much got out of it recently though.

Recently I've been a bit more caustic about it when people bug me, since they always say "Did you get a haircut?!?!?!", I just reply very calmly and normally, "No, why do you ask?". Either they get the sarcasm and leave me alone, or sit around pondering it for a bit. Either way, it works well >.>

Ugg, I hate it when place that cut your hair ask you questions. The place I usually go to normally didn't ask me anything (I guess they got the point after I never responded or gave them monosyllabic responses.) But now the people there have started asking questions again, sometimes personal ones too >.> I haven't gotten out much at all either; although this morning I was forced to drive someone to a train station I've never driven to and drive myself back through an area I have never been in; was very unfun >_>

I used to have all kinds of extreme hairstyles. It never bothered me when strangers were staring at me, but I didn't like it when people I knew commented it. Never knew how to react on that. Most people didn't even say something negative, but for some people I knew they thought I was crazy.
I haven't seen a hairdresser for 2 years now. Sometimes I cut it myself cos it grows so quickly. But I don't really have a haircut, just long hair. I'm getting lots of compliments for my hair from other girls because it's so thick and they like to give me hairstyles. I don't even have a hairdryer, so I just wash it and comb it and that's it. It looks quite frizzy most of the time, but there seem to be some techniques to make it shiny.

I have never done anything "extreme" with my hair. I have had family members jokingly buy me neon green glow in the dark hair dye, or other such things, but my hair is generally always the same; brown (or is it black? I don't know >.> nor do I care.) and rather messy I guess. I don't place much value on looks, especially not my own. Although I loathe my hair color... maybe if it was neon green no one would say "All you need is the thunderbolt on your forehead!" >.>

I always hate changing hair style for the same reason as most of the other people here, i hate the attention and people staring at me.
I used to have long hair for a guy then got it cut really short and no one recognized me so they were constantly staring at me trying to figure out who i am. I also died my hair bright blue one day for a bet, worst bet ever. :( luckily the dye comes out easily.

I think girls with short hair are hotter heelshouse. :P

I agree with Hatake.

Short hair on a girl can be very sexy.
