I'm not sure whether this form of therapy has been mentioned on the forum before or not, but I came across a most excellent article about ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy). I'm going to a therapist who uses this next week for the first time in an effort to alleviate my anxiety and depersonalization episodes so I will give feedback on how well it works (at least for me). I am a schizoid, but you know how the majority of us don't want to change so I'm posting this here for you AVPD folks because I know you guys struggle and want to change.
It is a few pages long but I assure you it doesn't feel that way once you start reading it. With the insight I gained from this article, I'm not even sure I need to pay some guy $100 an hour. I could probably just apply what was in this article to my life and see significant improvement, but I'm not gonna risk it. I'm gonna see him at least once and see how it goes. I hope this article helps you as much as it did me. If not, then oh well. It's not like there was something else you could have been reading right?
