What are your fears about it?

I have been taking Lexapro for 4+ years now and it is regarded as one of the best anti-depressants available. It helps keep my mood at a relaively constant level and reduces my anxiety and stress to an 'acceptable' level. If you start to take it, then don't just suddenly stop taking it and go cold-turkey. That would be a very bad idea indeed. Instead, just get into the habit of taking it as your doctor has ordered and don't sit-aroun waiting for it to take effect (because it will take time to work).

I dunno, I've heard bad stories about antidepressants, I'm scared of the side-effects. Also, I'm quite young (16), I was wondering if it might be too early to start.

Hi,

16 is not too early to start, and you should be aware that not everyone feels side-effects from these drugs. On another note, it is unlikely that a drug you are prescribed will be the same one that someone else was prescribed (There are many different anti-depressants out there).
