What's 'normal'? And why is it desirable to be normal?

Sometimes you have to look around the world and realise how many freaks there are out there, i know it sounds bad. Sometimes i feel thankful for what i got, even though i hate my life completely.

I only want to be normal because I'm lonely.

There's nothing inherently noble about being abnormal. Unless you're curing the sick or creating a great work of art, I don't see the upside to being an eccentric.

Yes, but I'm not a great artist. I'm just some poor schlub with no friends and no love life.

Actually, I was seeing a therapist back in April. But I quit going once I got a job. I don't regret ditching her. I doubt she could have helped me.

I don't believe this, and would be amazed if you could provide a link supporting your assertion.
I read this in an article quite awhile back. I tried to find it again but no joy. Yes that would be hard to prove definitively. However it seems self evident that being but conscious and discontened with ones lot gives an Avoidant some form of a head start over other P.D.'s.
this is good to know because when i brought up my self diagnosis to my mom, she said that if i had a pd everyone would be able to see it except me. and so i doubted myself, as she usually makes me do.
