Interview for Job

Postby Hatake » Wed Aug 06, 2008 12:04 am

Just like the title says, I have my first interview for a job at 10:00 A.M. tomorrow morning:(. I'm exicted because i want to get the job and improve my social skills but i'm also nervous as hell about the interview and the job. I'm afraid i will mess something up or they'll all hate me and laugh at me for something and more random negative thoughts like that. It would be nice to earn some extra money too. I'll be a stocking shelves if i get the job so i don't have to have a whole lot of social interaction but i'm still really nervous about it. The jobs for Petsmart which is a pet store for those of you that haven't heard of it.
Any advice or something for the interview?

Well, if you're like me.. you care. You care about everything.

But, you can do it! You just need to be positive. Think positive, positive thoughts will provoke positive results. Negative thoughts will provoke negative results. You get what you give, y'know?

Happy thoughts. Put yourself in a good mood before the interview somehow.

Aaand even if it's not much interaction, it's still a job, income, and something to occupy you. It's a positive thing, uh huh. :o

Dress as nice as you can. I mean, not too nice, but not wicked casual either, y'know? Presentable.

Smiling is good, too. I know it's tough sometimes, but smiling is contagious.. and, if you're just going to be stacking shelves, they won't expect you to be a social butterfly, so no worries.

Just be yourself, don't try too hard. Like, don't overthink things so much, it'll just make you all the more nervous and it's really not so bad. Trust me.

You'll do fine. :)

Tell them you are willing to work ANY hours. I supervise people and I love people who want to work ALL THE TIME. I have too many fussy people and I have ended up working lots of weekends lately.

Make sure to emphasize that you are fit. It will be a physical job , so you want to let them know that you can hack it. Nobody likes to hire someone and then have them quit right off. I've had that happen to me too.

Probably not for a job like that.

Employers for that kind of job want more than anything an employee that can show up on time every day and look like they enjoy working. A flexible schedule is a BIG plus. So if you have those things going for you, you've already beat most of your competition.

You also don't have to feel bad if you get nervous, because even normally confident people are expected to get nervous during an interview.

Good luck.

It's very likely that they do drug test. 63% of buisnesses in the the retail industry in america drug test their new hires.

I have heard that taking lots of goldenseal and drinking lots of red clover tea will help you pass drug tests.
