Hey,

I have thought about it before but I think that you should wait a while longer before committing to this. Just let the idea 'simmer' because you may very well NOT want to change your name in the near future. I, for example, am now glad that I never changed my name.

... ...and it's not as easy as you think here either: You have to go to the High Court to get the relevant forms first; and then to a Commissioner of Oaths to counter-sign the forms; Finally, you bring it all back to the court to get it stamped. After that, however, you have to start changing your bank details, your Social Security info., passport details, etc., etc. It's a huge hassle, so, make sure that your reasons for doing it are sound.

I have such a love-hate relationship with my name.

I hate it because EVERYONE, almost every single freaking person pronounces/spells it wrong. It happens so often that I just respond to the incorrect AND correct version. :?

But then again, my name is on the rare side.. and I wouldn't care to have a common name, even if it was easily pronouncible.

So.. boo. Can't win. Still, I'd like to change it. To something simple, yet unique.

But maybe my name actually does suit me. It's complicated and rare, pfahaha.
shoo fly, don't bother me.

I never thought of changing my name, it is rare here as i never met any1 with the same name as me. Though my name isnt rare in Russia and countries near it (my moms family side comes from Ukraine).

But ill always keep my name, cos its the same name as my dead uncle who i never met but he seemed a very nice person to meet.

Well, my name isn't too common either but it's so bland and boring... ... ...Kevin... ... ...:S

What is your first name anyway, Another_Asuka? If you don't want to say, then please dont' feel pressurised to do so. I spent a long time searching for the perfect name too but I was never happy - I don't think you will be either. There are many beautiful names out there, but what better than the one that someone gave to you at birth? A name is just one of those things that we don't have control of in our culture.

Kevin.

That's okay, Another_Asuka - As long as you are sure that you are doing this for the right reasons, then I will support you all of the way. If you need any more information about it, then I will gladly help. My father used to be a barrister too, so, I'm sure that I could ask him for help too (but indiscreetly).

You will probably have to pay the full fee for the reissuing of your passport, and other institutions will probably charge you too, even though all it takes is a simple name-change and a reissuing of a card!

I think my name is really boring I always though about changing it but know I would never be able to decided what my knew name would be. I have an Irish name, it’s not that rare but is spelt different then other countries. And the way I spell it has a completely different pronunciation abroad. So when I’m abroad and say my name and spell it they look at me as to say why are you saying one name and giving the spelling of another name. It’s not that I don’t like my first name or surname it’s just the two of them coupled together sound really boring.

Whatever your name is it could be worse: :)

On the news here i once saw a family wich had as second name *de Lul* wich means *the Penis* in dutch, all family members changed their names but som elder guy didnt, he said he was fine with the name and didnt had any need to change it. Even if people made fun of it when he was younger he coudnt care less

Must be hard to live with such a name like *the Penis*, introducing with full name woud be pretty embarassing for me. And som people wont even take you serious when you introduce to them. Theyll be like; HAHAHAHA, thats a good 1... So whats your name?

Yeah I saw that one too, "de Lul" is pretty hilarious :D

as for me, I was named after my grandfather which also is called Grozdan. I never really liked the name and often thought to change it but now I don't care anymore. I always thought that Grozdan sounded too rude and weird, but I'm fine with it

Also I read today on CNN that some chick named her girl "Indiana Jones" and her boy "Dow Jones"

:) I heard about that poor girl from NZ. Do any of you remember, a few years ago, a guy from Manchester in the UK named his son after the entire Manchester UTD soccer team? I wonder which soccer player's first name he actually uses!

... ...parents can be so cruel.
