Yes. I realized that many years ago. Get a job working with the public and you will see. Get a job with a lot of coworkers and you will see. There is still the problem of fitting in. That is a big problem. I don't want to be exactly like everyone, but you have to learn to fit in a bit or you risk persecution.

:? This is yet another pitfall that many avoidants seem to fall on... not a good way of thinking at all.

I used to think this way until I realized it only leads to narcissism and that it only makes me miserable. I like to think of people as my equals, no less or more than me. So maybe they are slaves to the media, easily manipulated sheep and all that jazz but so what? Since when is intellect the only way to measure a person's worth? So maybe they're not smart but that's not the only feature in a person, maybe they're kind, maybe they're funny, maybe they're charming or maybe they're useful or talented.

Also, even if you're right, even if everybody's worthless... what good is that belief to you? Maybe you won't think of yourself as worthless but you're still going to be really miserable if you think like that. As I said before, this only leads to narcissism and it's very easy for an avoidant to slip into that, and it's way harder to recover from npd than it is to recover from avpd. If I was you, I would focus on raising my self esteem in a healthy way.

Well I don't know why Nightspore felt inferior but I know a lot of people as smart as him and those are the people I feel inferior to. I feel inferior to most people on this board, because you can all discuss things like history and politics and actually form online friendships and connections, even if it's only on a message board. Ironically enough this board pretty much parallels my existence in real life.

No I agree, I've seen society at its worst. In general I know I'm superior. There are just a lot of people who make me feel inferior.

I have had identical thoughts Another_Shinji. Looking at the faults everyone has doesn't make me feel better about myself, it just makes me hate the world we live in that much more.

Dont hate them, hate is never a good thing. Just laugh at them and like the good people.

I don't hate the people, I just hate... the world. I don't really know how to explain it, everything I see just gets me down. People say I just see things differently. Like when people were talking about that Madeleine McCann girl, all I could think of is why people are so interested in that girl yet couldn't give a **** about all the other children suffering in the world. Why aren't they deserving of anyone's attention? It's just unfair.

All these little things just make me sad and uninterested in living in this world.

Yeah, I know. I feel pretty ignorant and naturally stupid, haha. I can't 'talk smart' but that's okay, you don't need heavy knowledge in politics or history to be worth as much.
Lol, kind of off-subject, but... If anyone tries to get into science and all that complex stuff with you and you have no understanding, just listen and ask questions (take interest). I do it all the time, you'll walk away with some random ass facts, it's pretty cool.

Buuut, I consider myself very nice and moralistic. People I typically cross are often judgemental with some pretty dark traits (such as deceptiveness, for one). I feel like I try harder to be as sinless and good as possible but most people have too many exceptions, which saddens me and is why I have trouble trusting.
It looks like others on this forum are the same.
I respect everyone all the same, and wish the world would only be equilitarian about it all, too. Sadly, it isn't. Stuff the ones who don't see it this way and reject you for not meeting their standards for some reason, I guess.

I already have a very low opinon of humanity in general. That includes me though. People suck, they are all horrible and I'm the worst one of them.

*shrug* Oh well...

The way I think of it people are the way they are because they can't help it. People are subject to human nature which means actions are dictated by traits set in stone in their behavior. So I don't hate the individuals for what they can't ammend. But I do hate society for how it takes advantage of people and manipulates them in cruel ways, exploiting their weaknesses. I do feel superior quite often because I feel I am smarter than the sheep for not falling into the same traps as the masses, but then I remember that these traits are also present in me. And I'm affected the same way as any other person by society. So it doesnt really matter how smart you are. In the end we all live in this world and very few are actually innocent of blame for the degredation of morality and society.

I think that its good to put things in perspective about how the world sucks (cliche i know), because it helps you to keep a clear mind and escape the social problems of day to day life. But in the end whatever viewpoint you have always ends up being an illusion. Just my two cents.

Oh yeah as my friend often says its usually the more genius the less sane. I have found that to be quite true in many cases.
