Whenever I attend a social event or gathering, it feels really tasteless and weary. I mean, these are all of what I am about and it appears to engulf everyone in it.
My interests (tetris and watching tv) cannot really interest other people. So when I am present, I feel that I am letting my company down, because I cannot lead or augment any form of conversation or activity. I want to be intersting but it always ends up being a fake act which is completely transparent and I can't successfully pull it through the whole time.
Is this experiences part of anyone's life????

Sounds familiar. I don't attend social gatherings. Sometimes I will pop in for a couple of minutes for a retirement party and say bye to the retiree. Not much else. I can talk about opera, but not many other people want to. Or maybe Stargate or new episodes of Battlestar Galactica. Free cone day at Ben and Jerry's - April 29 this year. There - that's about it. About two minutes of stuff and I'm done.

I can connect to this, I rarely attend any social gatherings, in fact, I've never been to a party with people my age so I have no idea how they are except from what I see in movies which I don't think it's a good source of information but in social situations I just go into a corner and wait until whoever made me come decides to leave.
I can't really say that I relate about the interests, I have lots and lots of interests many of them popular among people in my age range. I also have a passion for learning new things so I tend to always have a lot to say but I never say anything even when people are talking about one of my interests or hobbies I always decide to not step in and keep in the background or even if they are directly talking to me about one of my interests I pretend I'm not interested or don't know anything about that.
