Behind Blue Eyes by Limp Bizkit is a good one :)

No one knows what it's like
To be the bad man
To be the sad man
Behind blue eyes

And no one knows what it's like
To be hated
To be fated
To telling lonely lies

But my dreams, they aren't as empty
As my conscience seems to be
i have hours, only lonely
My love is vengeance
That's never free

No one knows what it's like
To feel these feelings
Like I do
And I blame you

No one bites back as hard
On their anger
None of my pain and woe
Can show through

But my dreams, they aren't as empty
As my conscience seems to be
i have hours, only lonely
My love is vengeance
That's never free

Discover L.I.M.P. say it (x4)

Discover

No one knows what it´s like
To be mistreated
To be defeated
Behind blue eyes

and No one knows how to say
That they're sorry
And don't worry
I'm not telling lies

But my dreams, they aren't as empty
As my conscience seems to be
i have hours, only lonely
My love is vengeance
That's never free

No one knows what it's like
To be the bad man
To be the sad man
Behind blue eyes.

Violet - The Birthday Massacre
The tragic comedy divine
Paints the way to peace of mind
Leaving shallow lovers far behind

Past uncertainties combine
Bringing tears to sleepless eyes
Memory runs the course of time

Blood runs cold beyond the violet prison
For violent visions
And so the broken record plays
As you throw us away

We're never enough
We're drowning in cliches
So desperate to love
We're twisting every word they say
So we sleep through the days

Within the heat of passions war
Lust is spilled upon the floor
Staining red the wasted metaphor

The selfish need for something more
Claws in vain at closing doors
Scarring faces once adored

Tracing circles in the violet prison
For violent visions
And so the broken record plays
As you throw us away

We're never enough
We're drowning in cliches
So desperate to love
We're twisting every word they say
So we sleep through the days

someone told me this song makes them think of me...

The Fragile - Nine Inch Nails
She shines
In a world full of ugliness
She matters
When everything is meaningless

Fragile
She doesnt see her beauty
She tries to get away
Sometimes
Its just that nothing seems worth saving
I cant watch her slip away

I wont let you fall apart

She reads the minds of all the people as they pass her by
Hoping someone can see
If I could fix myself id-
But its too late for me

I wont let you fall apart

Well find the perfect place to go where we can run and hide
Ill build a wall and we can keep them on the other side
But they keep waiting
And picking

Its something I have to do
I was there, too
Before everything else
I was like you

Hi people. Normally I just lurk here (apparently I'm to afraid of judgement I can't even participate in society on the internet, the paradise of misanthropes and social misfits). However, I had to for this one because I can't believe no one's mentioned the album "The Wall" by Pink Floyd!

The Wall is a concept album that depicts the main character slowly building a metaphorical "wall" of isolation around himself, and describes each trauma that drives him further into self-isolation as "another brick in the wall". However, the album encourages the listener to take responsibility for their own lives and tear down their own walls.

One song I think explains isolation and the need for human conact very well is "Hey You":

Hey you, out there in the cold
Getting lonely, getting old
Can you feel me?
Hey you, standing in the aisles
With itchy feet and fading smiles
Can you feel me?
Hey you, dont help them to bury the light
Dont give in without a fight.

Hey you, out there on your own
Sitting naked by the phone
Would you touch me?
Hey you, with you ear against the wall
Waiting for someone to call out
Would you touch me?
Hey you, would you help me to carry the stone?
Open your heart, Im coming home.

But it was only fantasy.
The wall was too high,
As you can see.
No matter how he tried,
He could not break free.
And the worms ate into his brain.

Hey you, standing in the road
Always doing what youre told,
Can you help me?
Hey you, out there beyond the wall,
Breaking bottles in the hall,
Can you help me?
Hey you, dont tell me theres no hope at all
Together we stand, divided we fall.

However, even while I recognized the similarities between myself and the main character of the album, I was still able to distance myself from it and just think of it as a story until I heard the final song, "outside the Wall":

All alone,
or in two's,
The ones who really love you
Walk up and down outside the wall.
Some hand in hand
And some gathered together in bands.
The bleeding hearts and artists
Make their stand.

And when they've given you their all
Some stagger
and fall,
after all it's not easy
Banging your heart against some mad bugger's wall.

Something about that song just made me think about how I've got all these friends and family trying to help me and make me happy all the time, but I refuse to let them in. It briefly encouraged me to try and be more social and help myself instead of just wallowing in depression, although that ambition seems to have faded again now...

Anyway, I think anyone who has AvPD (or anyone at all, really) should listen to The Wall (preferably with the lyrics in front of you). It really makes you think.

Yea, i'd listen to the whole album over and over again back in the day, it does resonate much with self-imposed allienation and such.
My favorite would be "Nobody Home" along with "Comfortably Numb" but i believe the whole record is meant to be listened to as one piece of art.

Welcome to posting in the forums moonsong :D

A possitive song: Today, It´s your time to be happy (by Mago de Oz) Sorry, it´s in Spanish and today I´m very lazy to translate it to English.

Damien Rice - Rootless Tree

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6rndltmm ... re=related

What I want from you is empty your head
They say be true, don't stay in your bed
We do what we need to be free
And it leans on me like a rootless tree

What I want from us is empty our minds
We fake the thoughts, and fracture the times
We go blind when we've needed to see
And this leans on me, like a rootless...

###$ you, ###$ you, ###$ you
And all we've been through
I said leave it, leave it, leave it
There's nothing in you
And did you hate me, hate me, hate me, hate me so good
That you just let me out, let me out, let me out
Of this hell when you're around
Let me out, let me out, let me out
Hell when you're around
Let me out, let me out, let me out

What I want from this
Is learn to let go
No not of you
Of all that's been told
Killers re-invent and believe
And this leans on me, like a rootless...

###$ you, ###$ you, ###$ you
And all we've been through
I said leave it, leave it, leave it
There's nothing in you
And did you hate me, hate me, hate me, hate me so good
That you just let me out, let me out, let me out
Of this hell when you're around
Let me out, let me out, let me out
Of this hell when you're around
Let me out, let me out, let me out
Hell when you're around
Let me out, let me out, let me out
Hell when you're around
Let me out, let me out, let me out, let me out
Let me out, let me out, let me out, let me out
Let me out, let me out, let me out

###$ you, ###$ you, love you
And all we've been through
I said leave it, leave it, leave it
It's nothing in you
And did you hate me, hate me, hate me, hate me so good
That you just let me out, let me out, let me out, let me out
Let me out, let me out, let me out, let me out
Let me out, let me out, let me out, let me out
Let me out, let me out, let me out

Let me out, let me out, let me out
Hell when you're around

Let me out, let me out, let me out
Hell when you're around

Let me out, let me out, let me out
Hell when you're around

P.O.D - Anything Right

I can't do anything right
You don't know me, stay out of my life
Kick me while I'm down, I want you to
I can't be like you
Don't want to be like you
