Right, so that's the answer.
Therapy can only work if you truly want to change, and they don't have the tools to force you to.
Pretty much only cults can change people's motivation. They have the tools, but usually comes with a price.

I disagree, there is no point to do or pay therapy if you want to change and can do it alone, without useless theories or suggestios of a psychotherapist.

I often disagree with people have that kind of opinion "if you want to really change",it's not a choice to change or not to change, you can change 20+ years of introvertion or shyness, nor the person choose to be that way,it's the way he learned from childhood to think and act. :!:

You are missing the point entirely.

The question you asked originally is which therapy worked.
If you don't have the prerequisite, nothing will work for you.
It might for others that do have that prerequisite.

Nobody will force you to be different, it would be unethical to even try, so they won't.
They might take your money though.

If it were easy enough completely change the way your brain perceives the world and to do it all on your own without a therapist, we wouldn't be having this conversation- we'd have fixed it already.

Change doesn't have to be major to have an effect. Sometimes little changes can have just as important an outcome and they become part of the bigger picture. Also the choice to change can be as simple and non-specific as "I want to try to do something differently or better here".

I've been through many years of therapy. It's never been about theories or suggestions, it's been about learning to understand why I do the things I do and why, processing trauma, understanding how my trauma affected me then and how it affects me now, learning to deal with my everyday symptoms, understanding my triggers, understanding my illness, learning to trust and feel safe with someone again. Sure the therapist has studied various theories and methods, but their job is about helping me by applying their skills without needing to explain the who, what and why of it- I'm sure if I asked, they'd enlighten me, but it's not really necessary to me. You wouldn't ask, nor do you need your car mechanic to explain every detail of how he changed the oil on your car.
