I exhibit the symptoms of AvPD, but I have Asperger's Syndrome. One of the symptoms of that is OCD and - guess what - one of my obsessions is with regard to cleanliness. So, I shower twice-a-day, shave every day, change clothes and wash them every day, and brush my teeth at least 5 times.

... ...If I've sweated excessively from a certain nervous or mind-exerting situation, I will just go have an extra shower to relax. It feels really refreshing to have a shower.

Why would you feel the need to shave your 'nads'? Anyway, I liked your earlier paragraph regarding the natural scent of a woman; and the fact that we have been taught to despise natural odours. That's our brains overtaking us; it [our brain] will be our downfall in the end.[/quote]

I think it has more to do with what the cosmetics industry WANTS us to do, which is MORE and MORE OFTEN. Ka-ching!

I don't buy it though. Brush teeth once a week, take a shower 2 or 3 times a week is perfectly fine I think. I never heard my dentist complain much, and I don't have a bad odor either AFAIK.

I shower almost every day. I especially like to shower at night as it makes me sleep better and in the morning to get that slimy grimy feel off. As for hair, I really am starting to shampoo and take care of it more and even considering of growing it until its a large afro. 8)

As for dental hygenie and applying lip balm. I fall waaaaay short.

Blueshift, I also have a personal angst with cosmetics... ...in that they are utterly pointless and only serve to:

1) Waste money
2) Feed people's insecurity about 'not looking acceptable to society'

I'm a guy and I cannot bare the sight of a woman with too much make-up on. The less the better and, if no make-up at all, kudos to you.

i was being facetious about shaving the nads, a lot of people
are compulsive about body care.

brushing your teeth regularly enough, but gently
is a very healthy thing to do. washing is less important
health wise i think. but youll need your teeth for 60 years
if you can last that long, not 35 or so.

id love to have my own teeth at 60, but i doubt it,
not from lack of care, but from misuse. i clench my jaw
brutally hard while is sleep, i apparently grind them.

they have been crushed to maybe 2/3rd the hight they
were, the molars not the front / incisor.

afros are cool.

Im not even close to being ocb but of course i brush my teeth i also floss and use mouthwash. Maybe its cause i had braces and that taught me how to have oral hygeine.

Well Im still in highschool, and can still afford to be a lazy bastard. While I used to begrudgingly take a shower at the end of each day, I also have patches, when depression intensifys, that I just wont, until my parents or older brother notice. I guess its just a mixture of avolition and lack of energy. My logic for this, which I assume to be at least partially correct, is that: noone really cared for/noticed me in the first place (bot that Im complaining), those who I care about dont care (sort of like sociological evolution), it is a waste of time, and it just takes away from people something to occupy them during their tedious lives. Most people will claim to be disgusted, but in reality I think theyre happy that they have anyrhing to talk about at all. I am also rather resentful of the conception of hygeine as we know it today, a marketing scheme.
