CAN THİS BE A SYMPTOM OF AVPD?

hello i just want to say my englısh ısnt good sorry....goıng to express my self ın a sımple way....I am a shy person very aloof ın socıal sıtuatıons....i have 0 frıends...i want to aproach to people however i cant and ı dont know why ...ı am 18 years old ı am male....in class ı trıed to talk to someone and she told me ICANT HEAR U SPEAK LOUD....and then ı felt extremely sad ı was goıng to cry!!!i just went ınto the schools bathroom and crıed...and then ı was ok....And today the teacher was gıvıng the chemıstry exam result and ı got a low mark and she saıd U are decreaswıng the classes average note ın and then laughted and agaın I WANTED TO CRY ı felt very very emotıonal...But ı am not lıke thıs wıth my famıly ı am a dıfferent person i always argue wıth my famıly ı feel very confıdent and ı dont care what my famıly says....i am mıxed up...i am sufferıng and ı dont know ıf thıs ıs AVPD...does all these thıngs happen to u....İ feel very insecure around people...i feel that i dont fit in....i feel lonely....shy....

Hey there hottyfem. I'm sorry your teacher was such a jackass. It sounds like he/she was trying to guilt you by saying you were bringing the class average down, what a jerk. That sounds like your teacher doesn't care about anything except how he/she looks to her superiors. A good teacher would be more concerned about you, and offered you some extra help. I would have been upset as well.

I can totally understand how someone asking you to speak up would make you feel upset. We are highly sensitive to the criticism of others, and usually internalize it and assume it means we are horrible people.

I used to be more soft-spoken when I was younger too. I made an effort to speak up louder so people could hear me. It's hard when you feel shy and socially awkward.

You seem to have some symptoms of AvPD. Maybe also social anxiety and shyness, since you don't have problems with family.

Your teacher sounds like a total jerk. I had a few teachers like that too. They'd just put me down instead of trying to help me, and other students would call me stupid and "retarded" and the teachers would never do anything about it. I'm going to homeschool my kids if I ever have them. No child of mine is going to be sentenced to 13 years of the hell that is public school. And I'll do what I can to prevent them from developing AvPD or some other personality disorder.
