This happened to me with books and movies and shows too . I just can't enjoy most of them anymore because I become too overcritical of them. If I don't like them within the first little bit I toss them aside. My attention span has gotten much worse over the years though......It can be a bit frustrating , honestly. I don't have depression often enough for that to be the reason either.

Why do you find you can't play them any more? Burnt out?

haha aux11 I go in for the two-handed also, maxed out. I just don't have time for magicka tho I'd love to make the switch also as I'm too strong now. didn't come across many daedric weapons yet or even many daedra. I got the staff where I conjure a daedra if I need a hand. but I walk everywhere with kharjo as a helper. we can't marry tho as we're both khajiit haha so I didn't marry in the game still... my heart belongs to kharjo hahaha. I use mainly greatswords, war an enchanted ebony greatsword of burning, now I made a cool Dragonbone greatsword of electricity and magicka draining. <<<<<<SADDO ALERT

rigning I couldn't play anymore in the days of 8,16 bit games. I used to get addicted and really upset about games. when I died I'd get these weird freeze things like a ghost came over me, and headaches, stomach cramps, I used to dream about how to complete the levels, the graphics used to make my eyes burn like doom does. think it's a mild form of epilepsy from the low bit and refresh rate flashing games. it's so weird I honestly sound mental I know. then metal gear solid 2 on ps2 got me back into gaming after a 7 year hiatus. thank god I have interests otherwise the world would suck. even if I go to old people's home hell if I can bring my console I'll be ok, just shut myself in my room haha.

I agree with you. The world would be empty without my interests lol :D . just for some reason they tend to be ultra limited and I prefer for them to be a bit more obscure, such as the ps1 rpgs. Very specific and not a very active fandom anymore for most of the games.

But I'm an obsessive painter and that's what I mostly always want to do; is that you with video games? Painting is pretty much the love of my life.

yeah. lived in isolation for too long. brain telling me i'm an asshole for not filling it back up with more external information because everything already in there has been used and recycled so many times it's lost its effect. but yeah, same with books, movies, series, and even being creative.

I am very isolated as well...But I am focused totally on my interests that I do have... I think my problem is that I tend to dedicate my emotional energy to interests instead of people and so it's a BIG COMMITMENT, and I don't take commitment as lightly as I used to. I think I'm afraid of disappointment with it or something. It's like I've extended my withdrawn relationship to people to everything, even my interests X_X. Very strange. But yes, it' just very difficult for me to get interested in new things and I'm very reluctant about it.

It's just difficult yeah for me to be stimulated by stories anymore. Maybe it has lost its effect too. I find it easy thank goodness to be creative though.

Video games are a mainstream form of entertainment, even among neurotypical people. They are especially so for shy people and avoidants, however. Escaping into fantasy constantly is one of the signs of AvPD. The key is how often you do it. Everyone does it. But Avies do it almost constantly. I hardly hung out with any of my classmates outside of school. I had one brother I was close to. But most of the time, it was video games for me growing up. They did become my friends. Now when I play them, it is like visiting an old friend.

I don't keep up much with the new video games, but have fancied GTA for a long time now. Still know a ridiculous amount about GTA3 and and Vice City. I played GTA4 and GTA5 and they were intimidating and complicated. I hear they are working on GTA6 now, and it will be out next year. Is that true?

If a composer could say what he had to say in words he would not bother trying to say it in music. ~Gustav Mahler
