Kitty was very good at the vet

Postby Parador » Fri May 01, 2015 11:12 pm

She didn't try to rip the vet's face off when she got her shot. Big improvement over previous years. I've been all bent out of shape over it the past few days. I even had a nightmare that she got kidnapped: I was taking her to the vet and had to stop at the store for something. When I came out of the store I saw someone driving off with my car. I was thinking MY CAT IS IN THERE! If it had happened for real the cat-napper would have thrown her out of the car. She just yowls and yowls when she's in her carrier. yowled a lot at the vet even when I let her out - they have a small blocked off area for cats only. But unless she gets everything she wants it's YOWL YOWL YOWL.
Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast.

I HATE taking my cats to the vet. Probably only a little less than they hate going. I stress out over it for days before as well. I feel guilty because I know the appointment is set but they, of course, have no idea. Luckily, they are usually good about it. Too scared to be nasty. They never yowl, just meow pitifully, which of course makes me feel worse. I have two males and a girl. Although my girl is especially timid, I think the female cats in general are definitely more badass than the males. Years back when I did rescue, I had a tough, mean, obese, diabetic, litter box-avoidant cat named, of all things, Precious. It took two people to get her to the vet. Once, she nearly sliced the vet's fingers off. He screamed in pain and I remember thinking MAN that must HURT. I gelt guilty because we should have clipped her nails beforehand, but that would have been impossible. I still feel bad for that vet.

Now it's time for her flea medicine. That's hard to give her. She sees me open the vial and runs outside. I can grab her before getting the vial, but it's too hard to open while holding a squirming cat.

I can't imaging clipping my cat's nails. Even my old mellow Buddy cat wouldn't let me clip his nails. I paid the vet to do it.

Removing ticks is the worst I think.

My two boys were hand raised so they're literally pussies. I can do anything I want with them. Hats, sunglasses, you name it. My little girl was feral when I got her but she's very timid and sweet. When I notice she's sticking to the carpet, I have to chase her down and do her nails. I usually don't sees her for a day or so after that but she's been getting better lately.

Can someone explain to me how to do quotes? I cut, hit 'quote' and then paste but it doesn't work properly.

You can do quotes either by clicking on "Quote" in the person's post and it will bring you to the "Post a reply" page, where everything in that post is copied in. Or you can click on "Post Reply" at the top or bottom of the page and you can select the Quote option from the posts you can see in the scrolling view beneath the reply.

You will need to place quote tags around it eg [quote] [/quote ] for it to appear as a quote- you can copy/paste the text and put it between the tags to do this too.

For the quote to appear with a name attached to it, the quote tags look like this:
[quote="lilyfairy"] [/quote]

Hope this helps. :)

I've never had too. I had to take one off of me once. One day I gave my cat the flea repellent inside. Big mistake. The tick must have jumped off of my cat and onto me. Saw it on my chest. Yukky little bugger. Now I just gve my cat the stuff where you put a drop on the back of the neck instead of the stuff you have to rub all over the body. Boy Buddy really hated that.
