Hi - I've recently realized that I have many of the symptons of Avoidant Personality Disorder. I realize I have suffered from the effects and limitations for a very long time.
I want to try to improve. I'd be interested in hearing from forum members about methods that have been useful for others in improving upon their condition. I'm thinking about taking 10mg of paxil, focusing on health, working to try to stop my internal self-doubt, reading websites and books, participating in forums. Counselling may be a possibility too although that is challenging due to travel schedule.
If there was some approach that really worked well for you, I'd really value hearing about it.
Thanks

Awareness is the number on form of treatment I think. Being accountable to someone is another good one. That someone should be your therapist. Avoiding it due to travel sounds like it's just that, avoidance. If you have to travel unexpectedly I agree that's a problem but you should talk about that with the therapist on the first visit. Some of them work Saturdays too.
