I was just wondering, because many people speak of themselves as severe cases of APD - to the point where they cannot leave the house or hold down a job - but then go on to talk of "their friends" quite naturally... (Not questioning the seriousness of anybody's problems here, just wondering!)
I have one friend - and she lives conveniently far away.
She's a close friend, nevertheless. And meeting her was probably the best thing that happened to me in the last couple of years. Still, you know, she is not "the perfect friend", and I know I'd get on without her...

I have 2 fairly close friends (a couple)that I've known since high school who live in the city, about an hours drive away, I go and see them and stay some weekends, and I have a few people I talk to on MSN who I might see once a month through things with the car club I'm involved in. I have people I say hello to at work, but I don't see them outside of work, and I don't have any friends living near me.

I have a few "friends" that I see every now and then. It's more like when it's convienent for them or when they need someone to talk to or complain to, etc. I don't consider them close. I have no "close" friends or "real" friends. By real and close I mean people who actually give a damn about me. Who actually care about what I'm feeling and what not. I'd rather have only 1 real/close friend than 5 acquaintance type friends like I have. Real friends are hard to find.

Nina, are you okay? I worry about many things and right now it's you that I'm worrying about.
In any case, ever since beginning college I have always had countless friends but none that I would see regularly or go out to social events with. You see, people always seem to smile at me and appear to want to talk to me (But I don't want to talk to them). I think this is due to my baby face. Anyway, friends have come and gone in my life. The fact that I never socialise means that friends in my life are 'recycled'.
I mostly converse via cellular SMS, MSN/Yahoo Messenger, and e-mail.

I meant if you are feeling okay in general. I hate it when I know of somebody going through a tough time. Whatever has triggered the recent onset of hardship for you I wish it to disappear quickly so that you can once again smile, if not on your face, but in your heart.
*hug*

I know just about everyone there is to know (not really but I do have an extensive acquaintance network) but no real friends. I used to have 2 or 3, but that was before we all went to uni this year and went our separate ways.
