Autism and driving?

I just joined this forum so sorry in advance for any awkwardness.
My father has granted me the opportunity to learn how to drive on multiple occasions now, in which I respond with excitement. However, once behind the wheel, I'm tormented with fear and the horrific memory of a car crash I was in seven years ago.
I understand the mechanisms of operating a vehicle, I'm just afraid something will capture my and I'll crash and injure someone.
This might be a better topic for an anxiety forum but I have an ASD diagnosis so I'll just post it here.
Has anyone else had this issue while learning to drive? From what I've gathered, autism can amplify difficulties with respects to learning skills such as driving.
