that seriously sucks..
What exactly did she do in class..?
Since they are aware she's autistic and since they are aware she's having a really rough week, it is entirely expected that her behaviour will be a bit off right now.
I would be bringing the full force of the disability discrimination act down on their heads for this one..
it is absolutely wrong to stop a child going on a school trip for displaying autistic behaviour if they have a diagnosis..
Has the school not got a proper punishment system set up for her and the other children on the spectrum..? Guidelines dictate that immediate punishment of a time-out (or reflection time as it's probably been named in her school) is the best method with children on the spectrum..
I had to deal with all this for my daughter and i'm so so sorry that you and your child are going through this as well
I went into the school and forced them to change the way they punished mine.. she now has an immediate time-out and the school recognise that a punishment in the future is pointless, it's too far away for a child on the spectrum to link the original behaviour to the result..
If you want a hand with this then please let me know and i'll dig some info up on best practice for punishing a child on the spectrum.. you could take it into the school. xx
