The reason there is so much ADHD about these days is simply because too many parenst stick theeir new babies in front of television for hours on end.
The babies brain cannot process the cacaphony of noise and the zooming/flickering images of hte typical cartoons and animations (I can't either and just turn the damn things off) and their little brain has to resort to coping strategy of blanking off the noise and images.
A baby should spend its first years in close contact with mother - like an Apache/Commanche baby is strapped to its parents back or like in most civilsations without telly a baby is held and cuddled by any family or friend and is allowed to sit and listen and watch while occasionally having some babytalk interraction with the adults or older children.
babies can only understand baby talk - they cannot understand fast chatter. their eyes cannot follow or interpret fast action on telly either and need to spend their time watching things progress at natural speed such as in a typical domestic setting where mother/elders are preparing food or juts talking together.
Tests have shown that babies can recognise smiley faces - smile at the next new born baby you see and it will smile right back - this shows its brain is working at some level.
If you then try to have a conversation with it - just babytalk: hello baby, ready for some milk, you're pretty little thing, etc - the baby will watch you with interest and if you then stop talking its little lips will move as though it is trying to speak or form words.
It obviously can't as its brain/vocal cords haven't been programmed or practised but it will watch your lips and each time you stop speaking it will try to reply and will remain concentrating on you.
Putting the child in front of the telly denies it this close contact and probably the constant noise and flashing images are as painful to it as disco light and noise is to older folks.
When a child is faced with this noise and imagery and is unable to turn away or escape from it it blanks it off and sets in motion a protective reflex that we know as ADHD.
Proof of this is that ADHD is unknown in societies without television.
It is possible that the cure for ADHD is not drugs but simply forcing the ADHD person to reconnect with their inner person by putting them into a situation where the only stimulus is their own senses.
Drop them in the middle of a desert or snowfield with supplies and let them fend for themself so that the only stimulus they have is what they create themself and they have to take charge of their own situation such as preparing shelter/food/safety - this will allow them to dig deep into their memories for all the stuff they were exposed to and their brains accepted and processed but then buried under the mass of rubbish taht tha ADHD will not allow to be found.

There's some truth in your post, children are stuck in front of the TV too much. So many teenagers spend hours every day in front of a computer. I think they are forgetting how to communicate in real life.
Not sure it actually causes ADHD, it sure does not help.

Show me the scientific basis for your post and maybe I'll believe you.
Despite what some of the points you made being truthful, it can't be said for 100% that someone's ADHD is caused from sitting in front of the television for too long. If that were the case, then everyone that sat in front of the television too much as a child would have ADHD.

You make a valid point. In many of the cases that we deal with, the children sit on their PlayStation the whole day without free play. This only makes the symptoms worse as the child experiences very little movement and outdoor stimulation. As for the communities without TV, I think they may not be aware of this conditions presence.
Your mother / Father gave you ADHD! sure - it's hereditary

The results of sitting in front of a television all day as a child is not ADHD; it is tv/videogame/internet addiction along with laziness, poor health, vitamin D deficiency, probably some depression, and a mindframe formed from never doing anything in life. The symptoms of ADHD and tvchild might superficially look the same but the causes are different and in the end the symptoms do differ in other respects, and therefore the treatments are different. Tvchild doesn't need ADHD medication, they need better health and a kick in the a$$ (and maybe some antidepressants).

There's no doubt about it, of course my parents gave me AD/HD, it's caused by sexual intercourse.
I was officially diagnosed with Klinefelter's syndrome in 1976. In October 1977 I began testosterone therapy. It is estimated I developed Klinefelter's syndrome when I was 14 years old.

I have difficulty accepting the word of a cartoon character.
