My son has ADD, he was diagnosed a few years ago. I was trying to fight the medication for a while, but it got so bad I had to do it. Now when he has chocolate his attitude changes beyond belief. I have read a few things that this may be a food allergy, but I am not sure. If anyone has heard of anthing like this can you please let me know. Some people think I am nuts, til they witness it 1st hand.

I have more than a suspicion that I have ADHD.
I am affected by chocolate because of the hgih sugar and caffeine that is in it.
If I have chocolate before I go to bed I cannot sleep
For the past year I have had to switch to decaffinated tea because I have normal caffienated tea after 12 midday I will up most of the night.
Like Coke or coffee, If I have coffee i will extremly excitable and won's shut up.
Like my son who has tourette ?ADHD with red cordial or high sugar food he just runs around like a madman and does not stop talking.

I have hyperactivity disorder and have since I was a young child. To this day if I have to much chocolate or more then 2 cups of coffee I get very calm and tired. When I was a child this is how they treated it (1970s) and it seems to help to this day.

I'm a celiac, and celiac disease has been linked to just about every mental disorder in existence, meaning gluten has been linked to adhd, autism, schizophrenia, anxiety, depression etc. I personally react very strongly to xanthines (chocolate, coffee, etc). There's also growing bodies of evidence showing that lots of mental illnesses have an immune component to them. Allergies are an immune system issue.
