ADD and drug effected kids

Postby amom2boys » Thu Jun 15, 2006 7:03 am

I have a son who's almost 5. He is one of 2 of my son's who are adopted and were drug exposed in the womb. So many of his symptoms mimock ADD, however he has been non responsive to meds. It's hard to say what neurological damage has taken place as a result of his drug exposure, but it's really frustrating not having answers.

Anywone else out there that can relate? What's been your experience?

BTW, if you are an adoptive parent and need support, please check out www.happymomanna.com and go to the forum.

Thanks for your reply. I am so encouraged that medication has helped you. If the problems show up in other areas with my son as he grows, we will explore other kinds of meds. I just had a hard time putting a 4 year old on meds when he was somewhat managable--well, most of the time.

If you don't mind me asking, do you know if you suffered drug withdrawls as an infant from heroine exposure (obviously not by personal memory  )? Did you have any other symptoms besides that of ADD that you believed to be a result of your drug exposure in the womb? I am so encouraged by those who overcome any obsticles as a result of drug effects.

Thanks for your imput.
