Flinching

Postby dwilding » Fri Aug 03, 2012 1:36 pm

Does anyone else like flinch an excessive amount? Like I know everyone flinches but when people move their hand i flinch like a foot back or I put my fists up. For no reason if someone is like moving their hand toward me I flinch. Anyone else?

I move my feet an excessive amount. It tends to be worse with shoes on than without (So I prefer to not wear shoes wherever I'm at...be that work, or home, or whatever). It's most noticeable when I'm in bed and the desire to move my feet (toes) is pretty strong.

In terms fo flinching when people come toward me. Not so much of a problem here. I tend to keep my distance from people if at all possible, though. Just personal preference...I have a very large personal area I like to keep free of others.

Well, there's stimming, but in terms of actual flinching I think it's probably an individual trait rather than Asperger's per se. Maybe a combination; if you're more self-aware of people/your surroundings (and as TDT already mentioned, the space issue) then it could become exaggerated, I suppose.
There's that smell again...
