Ugh. Not another party :/ ...

Postby UglyPratFace7 » Tue Jan 10, 2012 10:13 pm

I absolutely hate parties, though my parents are taking me to one of their friends' parties on Saturday. Which will be strange because they already think I'm weird and rude because I don't speak. But what scares me the most is that there will LOADS of people there, a majority I won't even know. I tend to act bizzarly in these situations or end up making myself look like an idiot. On top of all that, im forced to wear clothes I don't want to wear. ... Thinking of it all now makes my stomach churn with anxiety. The worst thing us, I think my parents are expecting me to be Miss. Sociability .... I'm so scared!

Obvious question maybe: Why go?

I't won't make you feel any better, and most likely won't add much tot he party so why bother? I seriously get anxious if you put me up close with a big cat like a tiger. Reason why i never do that.

I really wish I could stay at home, but my parents say I HAVE TO go. :( .... They know I wont enjoy it, I didn't even enjoy my own birthday party.

Well i am not going to advice to disobey your parents although my personal experience is otherwise. But you might consider being a bit more expressive in explaining why you can't go. Explain how it makes you feel in full detail. That it doesn't help to be forced into social situations because that only makes things worse for you.

Not in a refusing kind of way, just explain it as you do here. That it really makes you physically ill and most likely will do so for some years to come.

Can you bring a book or something? I personally had never eaten to the point of exploding until I had to go my niece's birthday party. Cant talk if your eating

but if you cant get out of it, and the parents wont listen to it, bring something to do.

Or nice nintendo gameboy and drive everybody crazy with the bleepbleep noises. They'll think twice about inviting you again. :P

Pretend to be sick so you won´t have to go. Start talking about feeling unwell days before the party though, as it makes the whole process of getting sick seem more natural and therefore more believable.

Pretend to be sick and hope they will offer you a quiet place in the house to rest.

Bring something to distract yourself with (book, mp3-player). When in conversation holding a plate with food, a glass or cup, and generally eating or drinking are good, more polite seeming alternatives (or ways to prevent conversation in the first place, depending on how you eat, lol).

Try to sneak out of the house and take a walk while everyone else does whatever they do at the party. (Trees?)

Offer helping in the kitchen or similiar, as there probably won´t be as many people, and stay there even after the work is done.

Hide in the restroom (especially helpful if you have already mentioned you are feeling sick).

Old trick, cut an onion in half and put it under your armpit for a while. You'll have a massive fever and look sick like a sick dog.

got out of schooltrips that way many a time. Don't keep it too long, or you really feel awful.
