The funniest thing about this is I own a Nokia, not an iPhone.

 That's some successful marketing by Apple! I hope they don't get to me next. I don't need the new model iHearThings.

So maybe your head is a radio...

 This is true. With computer speakers too, actually. It makes them buzz before the ring happens.

I often hear things that aren't there - most commonly when I'm about to go to sleep.
It usually comes in the form of an annoying ticking noise, like a clock, but when I reach for my watch to check if I'm hearing that, it's at the wrong speed and much too quiet for me to hear without putting my ear right to it. I'm also trying to find out what causes it and what I can do to stop it, however, I did see an article say I got can be caused by nerve signals from the brain to the ear - which would make sense as i have Asbergers and therefore may have extra or different nerve pathways from my brain to my ears - it's only a theory as to whether this is the actual cause though.

Hearing or seeing things at sleep boundaries. Is relatively common. And not necessarily indicative of any problem. :D https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypnagogia perhaps?

Hello

I thought I might suggest what I do, as I always hear background noise and it makes me extremely unsettled, nervous... can't sleep etc.

I have my TV on all the time, hardly any sound as the conversations people have on tv shows freaks me out trying to sleep, for sound I have my radio playing from a local station, low enough I can hear it, not loud enough the hosts voice doesn't freak me out. And lastly I have 5 cats, (used to have a Labrador but he died 6 weeks ago) so any load sudden noise I put down to my cats eating dry food, which has to be kept beside my bed, or my cats jumping of something like the bed.

Without this inplace, I hear so many things so many not even real
