I started a garden a few weeks back, which is good because I pretty much gave up doing anything. Of course, my wife now thinks I am taking it too far. She thinks that about a lot of things I take up. Not sure why short lived obsessions are a bad thing. Well, the short lived is probably not the best.
Anyway, not sure if these kind of obsessions fit here because I usually read about life long obsessions. Mine usually start intense and then dwindle once I have sucked up all available knowledge and use. Considering gardens will continue to give me food, maybe the use aspect won't go away.

gardening can be very therapeutic. i've found it to be a sort of meditation, in as much as you can divert your mind from thinking about your more worrying worries.
something knocked me out' the trees
now i'm on my knees
... don't you know you're gonna shock the monkey
there is one thing you must be sure of
i can't take any more
... don't you know you're gonna shock the monkey
don't like it but i guess i'm learning
... shock the monkey to life

I suppose, keeping my mind busy so it doesn't bother me is usually the goal. For the most part, it's on my side but when it isn't, all hell breaks loose. As a kid, I used to drown it out with heavy metal. That was also fairly therapeutic.
Admittedly, keeping my mind busy was a lot easier when there was something else to do and I was not tied down. As I age, it gets more difficult. Boredom gets my mind into all kinds of shenanigans. I feel I am close to a period where everything will cease to matter and then I will be peaceful once again. I guess I feel bad for those around me but I don't have the energy to keep this up.

I finally contacted an Autism center in the area for a diagnoses (by email of course). I don't believe my current providers can do that and they don't seem to like to focus on stuff they can't fix. Anyway, hoping this finally leads somewhere fruitful. I'm a bit frustrated, fed up and need an answer before my mind rips itself apart.

The diagnosis is not THAT important. The last Psyche that told me I didn't have it told me "it's so mild we don't diagnose it because most don't even realize they aren't normal.". Then the next Dr. promised me therapy after 90 days in group. The group was for PTSD and depression. I let them know I was on anti-depressants and had done CBT for both ten years ago and NO I did NOT need a "refresher". I was a little loud to let them know I wasn't depressed.
They only diagnose children because a child can't hide symptoms without training, so they get trained. I think I was better off in the 60s.
I also have Hashimoto's. Oddly unlike Asperger's that is mainly a female thing. And Dr.s can't ignore bloodwork before they treat me for something else easier to treat.

I'd like to have it so I can get some support. Because I appear "normal", I can't get the help I need. While I don't think there will be a lot of support, a little should go a long way. My last psych basically said I wouldn't get any help either. I then said, I need a new psych.

I'd guess mine is very mild but people have told me that I am different. I just think they didn't know how to place it. I wonder if any of them would have guessed if they had experienced others with Asperger's.

I'll be starting a job again for the last time. If it doesn't work again i'll tell my mom the truth.

I read about TMS in John Elder Robison's book "Switched On" and I hope it's able to enhance intelligence. Annoying how your genetics decide whether or not you'll be smart enough to get the career you want.
