Re: I told my mom I didn't love her...

Just wondering - because I can imagine that LA is the capital of shallowness, at least i can't imagine a place it could be worse... But is it actually a lot better in other places? Must say that nor cal seemed different already.
Where in the states are you from?

LA is the capitol of hobos, Mexicans, and bad traffic. Went to "Japan Town" there, and the areas surrounding it were crowded with hobos. I went into a Japanese restaurant expecting to be able to order in Japanese, and my waiter is a Mexican.

Went to San Francisco and found out it was the capitol of gays and bad traffic, with nearby Oakland being the capitol of gang warfare.

I imagine it's actually Hollywood and Beverly Hills that's the capitol of shallowness.

...And God Created California!

In the Beginning

God was missing for six days. Eventually, Michael the archangel found him, resting on the seventh day. He inquired of God. "Where have you been?"

God sighed a deep sigh of satisfaction and proudly pointed downwards through the clouds, "Look, Michael. Look what I've made."

Archangel Michael looked puzzled and said, "What is it?"

"It's a planet," replied God, "and I've put Life on it. I'm going to call it Earth and it's going to be a great place of balance." "Balance?" Inquired Michael, still confused.

God explained, pointing to different parts of earth. "For example, northern Europe will be a place of great opportunity and wealth while southern Europe is going to be poor. Over there I've placed a continent of white people and over there is a continent of black people," God continued pointing to different countries. "This one will be extremely hot and while this one will be very cold and covered in ice." The Archangel, impressed by God's work, then pointed to a land mass and said "What's that one?"

"Ah," said God. "That's California the most glorious place on earth. There are beautiful beaches, deserts, streams, hills, and forests. The people from California are going to be handsome, modest, intelligent and humorous and they are going to be found traveling the world. They will be extremely sociable, hardworking and high achieving, and they will be known throughout the world as diplomats and carriers of peace."

Michael gasped in wonder and admiration but then proclaimed, "What about balance, God? You said there would be balance!!!"

God replied wisely, "Wait until you see the idiots I put in Sacramento."

How psychology isn't science, part MDXVII, jumping to conclusions 101

Creative Thinkers More Likely to Cheat
When it comes to money, creative people are more likely to cheat to get it than the less-imaginative crowd, a new study suggests.

The reason? Creative types may be more skilled at coming up with reasons for their less-than-ethical actions, according to the researchers.

http://www.livescience.com/17209-creative-thinkers-cheaters.html

Sure. If you only look at that aspect you will find only that aspect. There are countless other reasons why people cheated that weren't considered and might just as well have shown the same distribution, or even a stronger correlation.

When do we finally relegate psychology to its proper place, next to astrology, palmistry, tarot, tealeaves reading, skyving and such. :x

If it makes you feel better, most American girls( and boys for that matter) are quite retarded. Just look at our leaders...

Tell them a bucket of crap is the new "In" thing and they'll all be buying one without question. There is no meaning to those 3 words here, yet people still want to think there is. Flood the market with gold and it's value plummets. Except in this case people still think gold has a value.

Having stayed in LA for quite some time I couldn't agree more. Is it any better on the east coast or other places (except for the bible belt  )? Just wondering - because I can imagine that LA is the capital of shallowness, at least i can't imagine a place it could be worse... But is it actually a lot better in other places? I live in the Bible Belt, Georgia specifically But unfortantely its really a country wide phenomena. Just like anywhere, it may vary place to place, but in the general sense its mostly the same everywhere.

Something I´ve been wondering: Why is it "a phenomena"? Based on the Latin, the singular should be "phenomenon" while the plural would be "phenomena". Just thought the off-topic thread was a good place to ask. Just does not seem to make sense. Anyone care to enlighten me, please?

well, I say phenomena because there are several things involved. Not sure if its correct usage, but I dont get to use the word much so my knowledge on the word is limited lol.
