Unofficial Aspie tests vs the real thing?

Postby faeriefly » Fri Nov 11, 2011 1:48 pm

I'm trying to head off the panic a little; is there much similarity between the unofficial tests posted above & the one/s I'll take at my appointment today?

I think I only took one:

http://www.rdos.net/eng/Aspie-quiz.php

I know I scored a very Aspie score on it. I know a lot of you. Don't care whether you get a diagnosis, but bc no one knew about AS when I was growing up, I didn't get the help I needed. I am struggling. I haven't been able to keep a steady job and now that I have a chronic pain condition all of the coping strategies I didn't even know I had before are falling apart because I'm in too much pain to tune much of anthing out.

I've never been able to "wait and see," it just makes me worry and obsess trying to figure out what I should expect. Is that common in AS or is that just my own neurosis?

the rdos test is a real part of the AS evaluation process. Its not the entire process however.

The complete test is an extended intelligence evaluation, it's answering silly questions, doing silly tests and after that a short interview. Takes a couple of hours.

The online test is as TNSe said a part of the whole test, but a tiny part. It assumes that your intelligence is normal/above normal and you have no speech impediments.

She says she's "85% certain" & waiting 1-2 weeks for her to score the rest

What are you, my shrink? :P

On a side note, I just realized how terrible my grammar is when the font is microscopic (my last post was done from my blackberry)

Some day I'd like to see a shrink just to answer: "how the ###$ should I know, I have AS you idiot. How did that make you feel?"

I just can't wait for my therapist to get the report. She's the one that kept saying stuff like, "I just don't see it..."

When I told my dad what the doctor said today, his response was, and I quote, "and what is knowing going to do for you anyway?"

*facepalm* ffs people! wouldn't you want to know if there was a relatively common neurological syndrome that finally explains all the problems you've always had trying to get along with other humans?

I don't know what else it will do for me in the long run, but ironically, I did get a questionnaire in the mail for my SSDI appeal today too. It arrived while I was out of town doing the AS testing, and the official diagnosis should come in before I have to return that questionnaire.

Maybe it will help me win the disability case for my FM/Scoliosis, depression and anxiety (especially now that we know where a lot of the mental stuff is rooted). Maybe it won't. Who knows. My lawyer acted like it would.

At the very least my therapist will have to quit saying "she doesn't see it" and quit making me talk about my mom all the time. I hope =P
