Never figured that one out, but i guess it has to do with some psychological mechanism where that person became an integral part of your mental selfimage. When they are gone some part of yourself feels lacking, hence you miss that person. Or something.
There's only two things I hate in this world. People who are intolerant of other people's cultures and the Dutch.

I agree with the above definition of "missing someone," as that's the most I've been able to figure out.
