I just read a
post on Slashdot claiming that the
Uncanny Valley effect has finally been explained. The article proposes some rather obvious ideas. However, an Aspie
posted a comment linking the uncanny valley to the perception of HFAs.
I had never made that link before, but it does go a long way in explaining the seemingly extreme reactions we experience - reactions that seem (to us) to be out of proportion to our behaviour.

Its quite evident even. Your brain (that is not to be mistaken for you, as in self) talks to other brains using an ancient communication system of body posture, facial expressions etc.
This whole process is handled beyond your control or awareness. When these brains have communicated their impressions are captured by the higher order processes (you) via a complicated analytic system residing in a part of your brain.
That part of the brain in an autism spectrum person is malfunctioning (or as your pov maybe better functioning by ignoring it) and communication of the 'body brain' with the 'you brain' is disturbed. So your responses are muted or absent.
So since the other 'normal' brain doesn't get the proper responses it gets weirded out.
There's only two things I hate in this world. People who are intolerant of other people's cultures and the Dutch.
