A habit of mine....

Postby Delacroix » Sat Oct 18, 2008 1:20 am

I have noticed recently that my obsessions with Chemical Formulas actually don't end after I read them.

I look at license plates and highway signs, pulling letters and numbers from them to form Chemical formulas.

It is really cool. I thought I should share my little habit of mine.

I actually have devised a system from using the numerical values of letters from Numerology with the actual letters themselves to form Chemical formulas from names of people, too.

I actually am curious to start forming Chemical equations, which will show chemical reactions taking place. :D

I know it is a random topic, but, I thought maybe this community might like to know a little more about me. :D

Hi,

I do this sometimes too, but you must realise that many elements won't combine with each other due to their number of available electrons. So, you must be careful with the formulas that you create! I have a big poster of the Periodic Table on the wall behind my PC. I currently know all of the elements by their letter-codes, but I also want to learn the different group that each element belongs too - i.e. Lanthanides, Actinides, Rare-earth metals, Alkaline Earth Metals, Halogens, etc.

Yeah, I know what you're talking about, but still, it is a fun habit. :D

And learning the groups should not be that difficult of a task to accomplish.

The Transactinides are difficult to learn because we never hear about them:

Rutherfordium, Dubnium, Seaborgium, Bohrium, Hassium, Meitnerium, Ununnilium, Unununium, Ununbium, Ununquadium, Ununhexium, and Ununoctium.

...Wanna try?
