Superficial understanding of subject despite obsessive focus

An example of what I mean is the console wars. AN aspie I knew could bring out the specs of for example a Wii console and find the most obscure details to prove the Wii is superior to its competitors such as ghz. Yet this same aspie was so blindly a wii fanboy he cannot accept that in the end the PS3 and Xbox 360 is far beyonda league above the Wii in almost everyway. He kept arguing in circles disregarding facts that even fellow Wii fans and hell Nintendo company itself stated conceding that the Wii's rivals are far stronger by a spec standpoint. Despite memorizing stuff like the precise decibal of the wi's laser remote control,etc.

I seent he same for many subjects. Pro German aspie brings out so many details about the German army from how many tanks a specific division has to the precise firing range of a SMG in arguments but he stubbornly insists the German army could have won operation Barbarossa over one simple decision and ignores fundamental facts even pro-German historians state. As well as the complexities behind Barbarossa's failures Too blind a German fanboy tot he extent even if you point out some flaws of the German army compared to the American army he cannot accept it despite solid proof coming from even Hitler himself (who admitted the Americans surprisingly made fantastic soldiers) and many pro-German historians.

There are too many examples I can put of repeating the two above behavior for any topic. Knowing every detail about a Yamaha motorcycle? But failing to understand how to handle one when driving and stubbornly insisting on driving a certain way despite even Yamaha experts and pro racers who use Yamaha saying its not just wrong but dangerous? And I wish I was making up but I knew an aspie who acted that way for a specific brand name.

Or knowing all the complex formulas for advanced chemistry? But failing at basic fundamental stuff like memorizing the chart abbreviations for the boring basic stuff? Why did the aspie I know even bother learning the advanced chemistry math formulas?

Can anyone explain how the hell this logic works? Why do Aspies tend to fail to understand the fundamentals and even be blind fanboys despite their laser obsessive focus on a subject and tendency to be logical? Can anyone explain why asperger syndrome bring this behavior?
