Greetings all,
I am 42 years old. It has only been within the last 10 years that I was diagnosed with Asperger syndrome. I am Native American and gay....a triple minority as an aspie. I realize that is not the most political question I could ask...but what the hell. How many aspies faces greater discrimination from women than men?
I realize that there is a lot packed into that question. I know Asperger's syndrome has been called hyper-masculinity. Does this affect our overall workplace relationships with women more negatively than men? I ask because I have received more direct discrimination from women than men....and i know I am open myself up to $#%^ storm, but specifically college education black women.
Now, I will say that have not attacked me on the biases of being an aspie (I tend to keep it quiet), but rather for being Native American. I KNOW i ask a lot of questions. I need to. However, I suspect that women react more negatively to that then men - which I totally get! They have had to fight for their position. I am not questioning their authority - however, but I KNOW my track record . I work better with other men than women.
That said - I have more women friends then men. I don't think that is a personal problem. Nor at school. It is only at work.
