Relationship issues between a NT and and Aspie

Postby Joperry » Thu Aug 02, 2018 9:34 am

I am six months into a relationship/ friendship with an Aspie. Last night I had the text that said "I just want to be your friend and I feel pressured in to giving you more but it is not what I want and I don't know what to do".

We have been friends for a couple of years and there was always an incredible attraction between us. We couldn't keep our hands off each other for the few months of our relationship/friendship. Texting everyday without fail, asking how my day was and what was I doing. Always a goodnight text or phone call

However One occasion three months in, a few days after, when love was declared, both me to him, and him to me he had his first proper melt down He said nothing more could ever happen between us and then hours later when he settled down he gave me a house key to his home.

In short our unique relationship has been the best that I have ever had, I understand him and his quirks and am respectful of his time out and when he doesn't want to talk. I also love how honest loyal and supportive he is with me and I am not ready to give up on us.

I have read somewhere that an Apsies can just run out of energy and six months into a relationship is the norm where they go to ground. I love and respect him but I am due to spend the weekend with him in two days. We usually sleep together but I am no longer sure on the rules. Has anyone been in this position and got through.
