restrictive lifestyle bringing me down

Postby Auxiliary11 » Mon Jul 25, 2016 12:11 pm

Has anyone here found a way to break out of a monotonous lifestyle, yet?

Due to having HFA/AS. I live quite a repetitive lifestyle that I find very hard to escape from. I've tried taking up other hobbies and such in the past, but nothing has ever stuck.

Golf? It's alright, but not interesting enough to stick with.
Fishing? It's alright, but not interesting enough to stick with.
Reading? It's alright, but I lost interest in it quickly.

etc. etc. I've only just found out recently that my super-restricted life could probably be pinned down to HFA/AS - always though there was something else going on up until that point; you can trace this pattern of withdrawal and lack of interests, all the way back to childhood.

It's so much harder for me to change my lifestyle when you compare it to an "average guy", which is why I've been like this for so long.
self dx. pdd-nos (level 1); covert narcissism w/ avoidant traits; social phobia; inertia.

INFP; dismissive/fearful-avoidant & highly sensitive person

I'm sorry I keep replying to your posts but I can relate to them, so I'm not stalking you lol
Yea I have a restrictive lifestyle that bothers me. What I often do is just literally try new things. It sounds kind of cliché but I think the reason we, as in people in general, fear new things is because our brain will make it seem bigger than it is. When you look at the world and realize it is just a giant rock with a bunch of entertaining hobbies and stuff like that waiting to happen then it becomes a lot easier to pick up new things that can keep you busy and happy. A few simple examples are music programming and even a large topic like biology. By adding something to your schedule you can stretch it until it essentially breaks I find. Also I like to look at things as being fluid. Like in a literal sense, a giant sandbox. Everything is atoms and that's it. What was originally causing my rigid lifestyle was a need to have control over everything and also the satisfaction I get from having things in a restrictive setting but once you look at everything in the same sort of "light" there is no need to have any restriction .This might not help as it's only a few tricks but it should help a bit.
