Would certain videos only be interesting to people with asp?

Postby Jupiter2Neptune » Sat Jan 02, 2016 9:42 am

There's this Youtube channel that I like, its fairly well know with over 50,000 subscribers and millions of views. The content involves a woman in her 30's or 40's (I don't know) reacting to a variety of operating systems through history and attempting to achieve basic tasks in them.

I've never been diagnosed with any form of mental illness except for depression but of course, I don't say much about myself in public so... I'd never get a proper diagnosis for anything. Now what I've noticed and come across a few times is the people comments section stating that the guy that sets up and hosts the "show" in these videos has aspergers. Some of the comments about this are negative while some are positive "I've got aspergers too, theres nothing wrong with it :)" The guy himself hasn't commented on this and I don't see anything wrong with him, seems like a fun, kind and happy person.

More recently I've noticed people saying stuff like "I would never have found this channel if I didn't have aspergers" and that comment got heaps of likes with other people commenting "I've got aspergers too! :)" and so on.

It's got me thinking... Since I like the channel myself, do I have aspergers? I mean it seems like the majority of the viewers do and are FINE with their condition.

Interesting question and welcome (:

I think that people with aspergers are more likely to have unusual interests than allistics will, but i definitely wouldn't use specific interests to definitively decide on a diagnosis.

Do you think that you have aspergers? do you fit the criteria for it?

many people aren't diagnosed until quite late - (with some people never being diagnosed at all), but a lot of people that do go for a diagnosis or have simply decided for themselves that they fit the spectrum are quite relieved to finally be able to fit properly somewhere.
