me and my child and AS

Postby itsangel » Tue Jan 30, 2007 12:23 am

i haven't had apergers syndrom diognosed as ive found it hard to get my kid refered for diognoses the doctors fob me off with my kid is getting all the help she needs.
My kid goes to a special school but they don't always take her needs into consideration. It's a lot better than when she was in a mainstream school that was a nightmare.

The problem is me at the moment im really overloaded we were at the trainstation on saturday and it was crouded too many noises
there was a misunderstanding at the ticket booth and a lady shouted at me i was paying for my ticket and i shouted for her to shut up.
I couldn't say where i was going as i was too distracted ok so i finaly managed to get my ticket but then a few more jumped on the band wagon.
I only wanted to get on the train lol but going through the station they were in my face and i got pushed the other one was pointing her finger in my face i pushed back followed by a punch.
I got on the train but the police came and took me out of the station i told them what happened at least it would be all on cctv.
Then the police drove us home and said don't go back to the staion for the day i felt so bad ive never been in trouble with the police before.
At the moment ive been painting my kitchen and my kid doesn't like the furniture being moved.
My brain is tuning into stupid noises at the moment and ive been getting overloaded i even hit my head and i haven't done that since i was a kid.

Hey,

Where did you hear about Asperger's syndrome before? Anyway, there will always be ignorant and incompetent people in life and it is important to remember that. We will meet them from time to time too but if we realise that these people DO actually exist then it will be easier to handle difficult situations like the one you had at the train station.

Nobody is perfect though. I had my run-ins with the law too a few years ago. We are all entitled to our 'moments' and, in fact, we can become better people through having these moments.

Essentially, my whole point here is to not be too hard on yourself over what happened. ...and if your doctor keeps fobbing you off then go to a different doctor. You have no time to be messing around with that particular doctor.

Kevin.

I heard about aspergers syndrome when i was doing some research trying to find out what was wrong with my daughter
and i thought she showed signs when she was 3yrs old .
My daughter is 11yrs now and her special school sent us on a aspergers syndrome course when i watched the tony atwood video it was like listening to many stages of her early childhood.
My kids teacher said she might be able to get her refered so i hope that happens becouse im giving up with being fobbed off all the time.
I get a lot more nervous about going out now but nothing bad has happened so the train station thing will be just something i can learn from. When i look back on it the police were nice.

Cool, I'm glad that you see the positives from the 'big' negative that was the train-station incident.

Tony Attwood has a video out too? I have his book here - Well, my mam bought it for me. I have three different books on Asperger's but I think his is the best.
