Potentially Relatable Experiences

Postby bscott » Mon Oct 19, 2015 7:53 pm

Hello,

I am diagnosed with Asperger's, and I am wondering whether or not people who also live with the condition find the following things easy to relate to:

Having a self-percieved lack of maturity… feeling childlike in comparison to neurotypicals of the same age;
Relying on 'stock' phrases to hold conversation;
Mumbling;
Frequently making errors in speech, such as syntax errors, using irregular wording, etc., then abruptly pausing and repeating the spoken artefact correctly;
Being incredibly clumsy;
Constantly questioning one's own motives for any taken action;

All your points match my own observations of myself except lack of maturity. I do feel like a have little to nothing to offer in a recreational social situation.

Thank you for your reply.

I can also relate to your latter point. Personally, it seems that when I do offer views/points in a conversation, they end up detracting from the main topic, leading to a lot of awkwardness…
